Lois M. Engstler

Lois M. Engstler, 77, of La Crescent, died on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Golden Living Center. She was born on February 1, 1937 in La Crosse to Harold and Irma (Teff) Weise. Lois graduated from Aquinas High School and then from nursing school in Rochester, MN. She worked as a pediatric LPN at St. Francis Hospital for many years.

Lois married Gerald Engstler on September 17, 1960 in St. James the Less Catholic Church, La Crosse. Lois was a member of the Union Valley Homemaker’s Club, the Lois Club in La Crosse, and served on the Ladies Circle and as a Eucharistic minister at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hokah. She and Jerry were active in Worldwide Marriage Encounter. Lois enjoyed reading, traveling, music, dancing, and family holidays and gatherings.

She is survived by six children, Sue (Mark) Van Vooren of Hayward, MN, Alan (Diane) Engstler of rural Hokah, Gregory (Kristy) Engstler of Menomonee, WI, Mark (Tammy) Engstler of Fountain City, WI, Nancy (Bart) Jambois of rural Hokah, and Timothy (Katie) Engstler of Downer’s Grove, IL, sixteen grandchildren, Carla and Alex Van Vooren, Jaime, Kelly, Stefan, Ryan, Brittany, Taylor, Simon, Lilly, Kyle, Colleen, and Tyler Engstler, Kyla and Jacob Spanjers, and Miranda Jambois, a sister Janet (Russell) Storandt of La Crosse, four brothers, Ron (Toni) Weise of La Crosse, Gerald (Reni) Weise of Nevis, MN, Harold “Joe” Weise of New Orleans, LA, and Tom (Sally) Weise of Onalaska, a sister-in-law Mary Ellen Ganrude of Hokah, a brother-in-law Donald (Jo Ann) Engstler of Caledonia, MN, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, her parents, an infant sister and a brother-in-law, Mervin Ganrude.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 3, 2014 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Hokah. Rev. Pratap Reddy Salibindla will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Hokah. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crescent on Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM and at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Memorials may be given to St. Peter’s Catholic Grade School, Hokah.
