Andrea K. Goudie

Andrea K. Goudie. 74 of La Crosse, passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. She was born in Minneapolis, MN on June 9, 1940 to Willis and Ruth (Andrews) Goudie, Andrea attended Roosevelt High School, graduating in 1958. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Minnesota in 1962. Andrea earned her master’s degree in English Language and Literature from Indiana University (Bloomington) in 1963 and her Doctorate in 1969.
She taught English at Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS from 1963 until 1965 and Nineteenth-Century American Literature at Wichita State University from 1968 until 1982. In 1979 Andrea was a recipient of the University of Wichita Regents Award for Excellence in Teaching. Seeking a new challenge, she began Doctoral study at Texas Tech University, receiving her Doctorate in Psychology (Counseling) in 1990.
In 1992, after working at the Counseling Center at Wichita State, she joined the staff of the Counseling and Testing Center at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Andrea worked as a Psychologist until her retirement in 2004.
She loved life, people, books and a good challenge. Andrea would like to be remembered as having “fought the good fight” and having “kept the faith”.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, October 11th at Wesley United Methodist Church, 721 King Street, La Crosse with Rev. Ellen Rasmussen officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 11:30 AM until the time of services. Memorials are preferred to Coulee Region Humane Society, Wesley United Methodist Church or La Crosse Symphony Orchestra.
