Ruth Marie Sperbeck

Ruth Marie Sperbeck, 86, of La Crescent, died on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Golden Living Center. She was born on August 11, 1928 in rural Amery, WI to Anton and Anna (Swanson) Melin. Ruth attended Shiloh School and graduated from Amery High School. Prior to her marriage she was employed by First National Bank in St. Paul and the Credit Bureau. She married Daniel James Sperbeck in St. Paul on September 13, 1958. They moved to Ridgeway, MN for several years before moving to the La Crescent area. Ruth enjoyed growing violets and orchids and also going antiquing.
She is survived by her husband Daniel, two sons, Kevin (Barbara) and Donald (Amy), a granddaughter Elizabeth, two step-grandchildren, Tony and Lisa, and a brother Anton “Tony” Melin. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Doris Melin and Lydia Palmer, and three brothers, Irvin, Rollie and Harris Melin.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 11:00 AM at English Lutheran Church, 1509 King Street, La Crosse. Pastor Mark Solyst will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Hiler Cemetery, rural Nodine, MN. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM and again on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association, or the donor’s choice.
