Arlene Adele Johnson

Arlene Adele Johnson age 95, dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, received a well-deserved reward on September 11, 2014 when she passed peacefully at her home.
Arlene was born in La Crosse Wisconsin, attended school at Holy Trinity Catholic School and graduated from Aquinas High School. She married Jim Johnson, the love of her life in 1946 and lived in Viroqua and La Crosse most of their married life. Together they owned and operated Jim Johnson’s Corner Food in La Crosse. Arlene served many years as school secretary at Blessed Sacrament School. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Women’s’ Club, volunteered at Blessed Sacrament Church and St. Joseph’s nursing home. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and spending time with her family and friends.
She was the daughter of Arthur and Rose Roth. She was preceded in death by her husband James C. P. Johnson and her sister, Virginia Hammes. She is survived by her brother Donald Roth, her daughters Suzanne (Richard) Geise, Plymouth, MN, Patricia (Jack) Albrechtson , Madison, WI, Mary Jo (David) Stokes, La Crosse, Lisa (James) Flottmeyer, La Crosse; Grandchildren Peter (Ruth Ann) Geise, Louisville, CO, Caroline Geise, Plymouth, MN, Ross Albrechtson, Seattle, WA, Ann-Marie Albrechton, New York, NY, Benjamin (Grace) Stokes, Santa Clara, CA, Andrew Stokes, Dayton, OH, Elise Flottmeyer, La Crosse, Emily Flottmeyer, La Crosse; Great-grandchildren, Simone Willis, Plymouth, MN, Skye Geise, Plymouth, MN, Grace Geise, Louisville, CO Juniper Stokes, Santa Clara, CA and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will begin with visitation on Sunday, September 14 from 1 PM to 3 PM at the Schumacher-Kish funeral Home in La Crosse and will continue on Monday at 10 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM on Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in La Crosse with Rev. Peter Raj officiating. Burial will follow in Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Blessed Sacrament parish, Aquinas High School or the organization of the donor’s choice.
