Stanley Kvam

May 7, 1938 — August 17, 2014

Stanley Kvam, 76 of Onalaska died on Sunday, August 17, 2014. He was born May 7, 1938 in La Crosse to Gilbert and Margaret (Lewiston) Kvam. Stanley married Sharon Gollnick on Christmas Day in 1961 in the chapel at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church while on leave from the Army Air Base at the Presidio on the San Francisco Bay. Back in La Crosse he was a milkman for 10 years then a welder for the Trane Company for 26 years and retired in 2000.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Joyce, a brother Eugene and a son, Randy who went on ahead to wait for him.
He left behind his wife Sharon of 52 years; a son, Eric (Amanda) Kvam; a daughter, Laurie (Calvin) Weston; grandchildren, Jaden, Kalen, Ryleigh, Kyle and Caleb; a sister, Marj Sprosty; a special niece Linda McGuire and special friends who have been along with us on this journey called life.
How he loved those penny slots and rides. Stanley loved to walk the streets of his hometown of Onalaska with his huskies keeping him in tow; the trips out west and bowling Friday nights. Stanley loved the Gather Gospel shows and would have tears when the old singer would sing, “It’s supper time.” The singer would sing how he longed to hear his mother call it’s suppertime - come home. Now Stanley is home with the Lord and holding his son.
A service of remembrance will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 20th in the Faith and Life Center at Bethany Riverside Nursing Home, 2575 South 7th Street, La Crosse, look for the gold roof. Pastor Kimberly Jordan will officiate.
