Phyllis L Bendel

Phyllis L. Bendel, 85, of La Crosse, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, with her family at her side.
She was born October 19, 1928, in La Crosse, to Frank and Martha (Eggler) Roesler. As she was growing up, she worked on the family in rural Coon Valley. She loved being outdoors. In her early adult life, Phyllis worked at Woolworths, Auto-Lite, and the La Crosse Garment Co. She married Clarence Bendel and they later divorced.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Susan (Steve) Stolfuss, Sandra (Rick) Fitting, and Clarence, Richard and Ronald Bendel; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters and brother, Lucille Hoeth, Doris Gerke, Susanne (Gerald) Forsythe and Douglas (Helen) Roesler; sister-in-law, Rosella Roesler; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Daniel and Wilbert Roesler; sister-in-law, Esther Roesler; brothers-in-law, Arville Hoeth and Leo Gerke; and daughter-in-law, Mary Bendel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, August 11th, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Rev. Rick Roberts will officiate. Burial will follow in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse is assisting the family.
