Phyllis A. Kobernick, 76 of La Crosse, WI passed away at her home on Monday, August 4, 2014. She was born in Rockland, WI on February 21, 1938 to Arthur and Rebecca (Roberts) Arentz. She married LaVern Kobernick in Sparta, WI on August 22, 1957 and he preceded her in death on July 3, 2003. Phyllis will be remembered as a very kind and giving person who loved her gossip magazines and sharing her many collectibles with family members. She was also known to occasionally teach young people how to drive and she enjoyed piercing ears.
She is survived by her two daughters Terry Kobernick and Jackie (Ray) Henke, one son Roger (Toni) Kobernick, five grandchildren, Joshua and Kelsey Henke, Dylan Holland, Jazmine and Brandi Kobernick, one great granddaughter Alyson Henke, three sisters, Leona (Harvey) Heuer, Carol (Ed) Koebernick, Joann (Bob) Stremcha, two brothers, Kenneth Arentz and Curtis (Bernice) Arentz and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband LaVern, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, two sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Olivet Beacon of Light Lutheran Church. Pastor David Baldukas will officiate. Burial will be in the Burns cemetery. Friends may call on the family Friday evening from 5 until 7 pm at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse chapel; 200 West Ave. So. Visitation will also be held Saturday morning at the church from 12 noon until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be used in Phyllis’ memory.
