Jason Songer

Jason Lee Songer, 29 of La Crescent, MN died on Thursday, July 24, 2014 in La Crosse as the result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born in La Crosse, WI on November 4, 1984 to Jeff and Kathy (Burfield) Songer of La Crescent, MN. He graduated from La Crescent High School in 2003. On September 14, 2013 he was married to Felicia Morgan.

Jason had many hobbies; salt water fishing, playing guitar and his greatest accomplishment, rebuilding from the ground up his 1967 mustang at the age of 16 with his father, who gave him the knowledge he needed to succeed.

Jason was a loyal and dedicated worker for Woodman’s Grocery since he was 16 years old. This is also where he met his future wife Felicia.Then, their adventures began. They started dating in 2005, and purchased their first house in 2007 where he was able to use his construction skills to build a garage from the ground up.

Jason was passionate about music, so passionate he went to London, England to see his favorite band Led Zeppelin sleeping outside to ensure he and his wife would have front row seats at the O2 Center. Jason attended many concerts with friends and family including Paul McCartney, The Who, Eagles, etc. His love of adventure and travel took him all over the world from Hawaii, England, France, then Australia, sleeping in the outback, scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef, New Zealand where he and his wife bungee jumped the second longest jump in the world, the island of Fiji, Italy and Greece for the couples honeymoon where a lot of ground was covered. They were able to see Pisa, Pantheon, Olympia, Pompeii, bike Rome and tour the Coliseum. Jason's motto was “Open your eyes to how short life can be and that tomorrow may never come”. Have no regrets, no holding back, try anything at least once because you only live once, for however long that may be."

Jason was a driven and determined man who believed there wasn't anything he couldn't do. He was very family oriented and had recently purchased his second home in La Crescent. Jason was helpful to anyone who was in need and had friends in all places. He was a very loved and rounded man.

In addition to his wife Felicia of La Crescent, he is survived by his parents Jeff and Kathy Songer of La Crescent, one sister Jessica (Josh) Tovsen of La Crescent, his niece and nephew Tori and Austin Tovsen, Grandmother Maxine Songer of La Crescent, and many uncles, aunts and cousins. He was preceeded in death by his maternal grandparents , his paternal grandfather and two cousins.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held from 4 until 7 pm on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in La Crescent. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crescent is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be used in Jason’s memory.
