Leonard G Cooper

Leonard G. Cooper, 76, of Holmen, died on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. He was born on January 22, 1935 in Harpers Ferry, IA to Delbert and Lucille (Valley) Cooper. He graduated from Aquinas High School, and married Shirley Ziegler on May 17, 1957 in St. Marys Catholic Church, La Crosse. Leonard had worked at Trane Company in La Crosse for over 40 years, retiring in 1996. He was active with the Holmen American Legion and the Holmen Knights of Columbus, and was a founding member of the Holmen High School Athletic Booster Club. Leonard loved fishing, watching old movies, and was an avid Packers, Brewers and NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his wife Shirley, three children, Robert (Cathleen) Cooper of La Crosse, Kathleen (Robert) Martin of Holmen, and Larry Cooper of Independence, WI, twelve grandchildren, Robert (Nicole) Cooper, Abby Cooper, Jamie Cooper, Callinna Cooper, Casey Cooper, Nicole (Liam) Mosier, Elizabeth (Dana) Gregory, Shawn (Holly) Martin, Heather Martin, Andrew (Samantha) Cooper, Austin Cooper, and Alyssa Cooper, three great-grandchildren, an uncle, Maurice Valley, and two nephews, Chris Mallette and Tim Mallette. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Yvonne Mallette, a grandson Adam Cooper, and several aunts and uncles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 31thstth, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Holmen. Rev. John L. Parr and Rev. Robert A. Schaller will officiate. Burial will be in the Onalaska City Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Sunday from 4:00 7:00 PM and again on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. A Rosary will be recited Sunday at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in Leonards name to the donors choice.
