Lucy Mae Strasser, 88, of La Crosse, died on Friday, October 28, 2011 at the St. Josephs Rehabilitation Center in La Crosse. She was born on December 12, 1922 in Middle Ridge, WI to William and Marie (Schmitz) Semke. She married Nicholas Bud Strasser on May 29, 1945 in La Crosse. Lucy was a member of Oak Ridge Homemakers, the Women of the Moose and St. Annes Altar Society. She did volunteer work at Gifted Hands for twenty years. She enjoyed crocheting, card playing, traveling, word puzzles and especially spending time with her family. Lucy is survived by her children Patricia (David) Bakken of La Crosse, Kathryn (Richard) Schmitt of La Crosse, Betty (Gary) Bakken of Campbellsport, WI, Jeanette (Michael) Faas of Onalaska, Nicholas (Cindy) Strasser of Onalaska, David (Margaret) Strasser of La Crosse and Rosemarie (Michael) Bohnert of Kendall, WI, fourteen grandchildren Linda Miller, Greg Bakken, Kris Schmitt, Karla Schmitt, Karen Wolfe, Tony Bakken, Angela Bakken, Jeff Faas, Jennifer Wheeler, Nicholas Strasser, Nathan Strasser, Cody Strasser, Daniel Bohnert and Kimberly Burkhalter, one step-grandchild Chad Powell, great grandchildren TJ, Nicole and Megan Miller, Collin and Ryan Bakken, Kyle Schmitt, Colin Clayburn, Blade and Preston Stach, Andrew and Tyler Parma, Levi and Joshua Wolfe, Ben and Joey Faas, Samara and Blaine Wheeler, Anna and Nicholas Strasser and Hailey Bohnert, two sisters Rita Grams of Brownsville, MN and Kathleen (Robert) Graf Ideker of Hokah, MN, sisters-in-law Mary Sexauer and Leora Kish both of La Crosse and Teresa Heberlein of Black River Falls. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 15, 1996, a sister Luella Ekern and brothers-in-law Charles Graf, Robert Grams, Robert Sexauer, Jule Kish and Eugene Heberlein.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Rev. G. Richard Roberts will officiate. Entombment will follow in the St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum, Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Ave. S., La Crosse on Tuesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, and again at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
