Stanley H. McCurdy
Stan McCurdy, 83, of La Crosse, died on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the Hillview Health Care Center in La Crosse. Stan was born in La Crosse on August 19, 1928 to Myles and Leona (Otto) McCurdy. He grew up on the north side in the neighborhood of Immanuel Lutheran School. He enjoyed being with all his friends and spent many hours ice skating at Copeland Park. He was a 1946 graduate of Logan High School. Stan worked at Northern Engraving until he was called into the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was stationed in Japan. On October 29, 1955 Stan married Jean Michel at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He worked for the La Crosse Water Department for over 30 years. Stans most thrilling sports activities were to pitch baseballs and watch the N.Y. Yankees and the Green Bay Packers.
He is survived by a son Steven (Cheryl) McCurdy of Onalaska, two grandchildren Amy and Ashley and three great grandchildren Alexis, Gavyn and Haily; three brothers Robert McCurdy of La Crescent, MN, Richard McCurdy of Mesquite, Nevada and Warren (Sue) McCurdy of La Crosse, WI. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Schumacher- Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Ave. S., La Crosse. Pastor Robert Wassermann will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
