Marie J Lockhart

d. December 2, 2011

Marie was a conscientious, tireless worker her whole life. She served at her parents tavern and bakery from the time she was tall enough to stand on a chair and see over the counter. Some of her happiest days were performing as a majorette in high school. Following her graduation from Parma-Schaaf High school in Cleveland she worked as a model before becoming a homemaker. She helped run a family business, and after her divorce went back to college to become a nurse. She supported her family as a legal secretary and security guard as she attended school. She left school to provide fulltime care for son who was in a critical car accident and required years of rehabilitation. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved fishing with her husband on their boat Lovey Baby. They delighted in taking her granddaughters boating and even named their favorite fishing spots after them. She was also a fierce competitor who loved fishing; playing bridge and spoiling her cat Sally. Her favorite spot was in her recliner by her fireplace surrounded by her family. Marie loved people. She made friends everywhere she went. Her high school year book quoted her as saying Marie smiled for the sake of smiling, and laughed for no reason at all. The family would especially like to thank the wonderful nursing staff at the Cancer Center, and the 7th floor of Mayo Clinic, La Crosse in addition to the staff and doctors who treated her for the last 5 years. Their compassion, kindness and personal attention to Marie as an individual was a tremendous blessing to our family.

Marie is survived by her children; Jack (Susann) Loesch, Jim (Kathy) Loesch, Gregg Loesch, Kim Loesch, Kerry Loesch, Lee (Tim) Donahue, Bill (Mary) Lockhart, Nancy (Bud) Chonko, Jimmy (Kumi) Lockhart, Suzanne (Ed) Snizek; eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant twin sister, one other sister Jeanette, her brother Andy and her grandson Joseph.

A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Christ Episcopal Church in La Crosse. Rev. Patrick Augustine will officiate. Burial on Marco Island, Florida will be at a later date. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Mass. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is in charge of arrangements.
