Vera Jane Nagle, 86 of La Crosse passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at Bethany Riverside nursing home in La Crosse. She was born on October 31, 1925 in the Town of Gale, Wi. To Odell and Clara (Anderson) Hanson. She grew up in Galesville, Wi. and graduated from Galesville High School in 1944. She continued her education in La Crosse, Wi. where she graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1947.
On May, 7, 1949 she was united in marriage to Richard Nagle at St. Marys Catholic church, La Crosse, Wi.. Vera was employed at St. Francis Hospital for 40 years working in the neonatal center. Her passion for nursing and care of newborns has left her footprint in the hearts of many families. Vera was quiet and soft spoken but a very strong woman who was always there to take care of her children and their families. Her heart and her home were always open.
She is survived by her son, David Nagle of Lakeville, Minn., her two daughters Susan (Kurt) Smith, Mary (Dick) Hagen of La Crosse, Wis.; five grandchildren, Betsy (David) of Farmington, Minn., Mike, Jeff (Cheryl), Matt (Naomi), Jenny and five great grandchildren, Jorga, Jeffrey, Mikey, Rylan and Colten all of La Crosse. She is further survived by her brother Lloyd (Dee) Hanson of Anoka, Mn. and her sister Marian (Jim) Thompson of Galesville, Wi. and many nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her parents Odell and Clara, her husband Richard Nagle, her brothers Elmer, Kilmer, Clinton and Stanley and her sister Evelyn.
Our sincere gratitude goes out to the staffs at Bethany Riverside, Hearten House II, the staff at St. Francis (Mayo) Hospital, Pastor Scott Skogen and the many people that touched her life in so many caring ways.
We love you mom and grandma and will count each passing day until we can see you again. You will forever be in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of Onalaska. Pastor Scott Skogen will officiate. Burial will follow in the Onalaska City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
