Tom Sanderson, 73 of Onalaska died Thursday, December 15, 2011 at his home after a courageous 4 year battle with cancer. He was born May 12, 1938 in La Crosse to George and Cecelia Rogers (Urbanek) Sanderson. He attended grade school at Rhyme School in Mindoro and graduated from Logan High School. Tom served for 6 years in the United States Army. He married Judy Haiden and they later divorced. Tom and his wife Lois have spent 31 wonderful years together.

Tom drove for the La Crosse MTU for over 30 years. He enjoyed turkey and deer hunting with his brother and sons. Tom and Lois loved camping, traveling and spending their winters in Arizona. He also was a fan of NASCAR and the Green Bay Packers. Tom and Lois helped many of their elderly family members so they could stay in their homes.

In addition to his wife Lois, he is survived by two sons; David Sanderson and Bill (Charlene) Sanderson; a daughter, Kari (Al) Noel; two granddaughters, Amber and Brianna; two sisters; Margie (Howard) Nelson and Gloria (Bob) Stanton; two brothers; Bob (Chris) Sanderson and Roger (Karen) Sanderson; sisters and brothers-in-law; Lynne Phillips, Barbara Phillips, Mary (Fred) Craig, Carol (Mike) Benrud and Linda (Ron) Smith along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jerry Sanderson and a sister Jean (Ernie) Jostad.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 19th at St. Pauls Ev. Lutheran Church in Onalaska, Rev. Norris Baumann will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date. Friends and family may call at the church from noon until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Gundersen-Lutheran Hospice Program, Gundersen-Lutheran Cancer Research or to St. Pauls Ev. Lutheran Church. Toms family would like to thank the physicians and staff at Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center and Hospice for their wonderful care and support.
