Margaret Peggy Dinger, 92 of La Crosse passed away Friday, December 16, 2011 at the Mayo Franciscan Skemp Hospital of La Crosse.
She was born August 24, 1919 in Monroe County Wisconsin to John and Louise (Wiedl) Brunner and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1937. She was united in marriage to Sylvester Dinger in St. Johns Catholic Church in Summit, Wisconsin. The couple lived in Sparta where Peggy worked at Ft. McCoy and the Hurcules Powder Plant in Prairie du Sac during WWII. The couple also owned and operated the Dew Drop Inn and Caf in La Crosse.
Four years after her husbands death, she moved to La Crosse where she was a member of St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral Parish and a member of the parish C.W.O. Peggy enjoyed fishing and her cats, Fluff and Boo Boo.
She is survived by nieces; Mary Rezin of Tomah, WI, Doris Long of Salt Lake City, UT, Alice (Jeff) Hill of Longmont, CO and Lori (Brett) Hetue of Onalaska; a nephew, Robert (Linda) Leis of Washburn, WI along with many cousins and friends. In addition to her husband, Sylvester she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Evelyn Leis and her husband Bill Leis; a brother Glen Brunner and his wife Edith (Flock) Brunner; a special nephew, Billy Leis; a friend for many years, Evelyn Engler; two brothers-in-law, Mathew Dinger and Herman Dinger; two sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday December 20th in the Marian Chapel of St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral. Rev. Charles Stoetzel will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Patricks Cemetery, Sparta. Friends and family may call at the church on Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services. Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is assisting the family. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral or the Mayo Clinic Health System Franciscan Healthcare Foundation.
