Dad was born in La Crosse on June 18, 1926 to Charles and Marie (Amundson) Padesky. He graduated from Aquinas High School in 1944. After 2 years of college Dad proudly served his country in the United States Navy. During this time he met the love of his life, Mildred M. Yeske. Mom and Dad were married on Sep. 8, 1952 in La Crosse. The had 2 sons, David and Gary.Jack worked at Electric Auto Lite and Newburg's Clothing Store as a young man. He also played piano in a band "The Starliters". Later he managed Berg Paint and Wallpaper of La Crosse. He moved on to KMart when it opened on State Rd. where he managed the men's clothing and jewelry departments. In 1974 Dad and Mom bought Shimshak's Tavern. They owned the bar until 1989. While owning the bar, dad sponsored many ball teams and a bowling team. After retiring from the bar, Dad worked part time at Wonderwash car wash.Dad enjoyed deer and duck hunting with his family. He loved painting, playing cards, sketching and working around the house. He watched the Packers and Cubs and became a huge Brewers fan over the years.Jack was a member of the Eagles Club, American Legion Post 52, and Knights of Columbus. He never missed one of Dave or Gary's games at Longfellow or Central. His other great joy in life was his grandchildren. Christmas Eve won't be the same without his homemade meatballs and his love for his family.Dad is in heaven with his mom and dad. His father passed away on the same day 55 years ago.Jack is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mildred (Yeske), sons David and Gary (Kris) Padesky, grandchildren Brenna, Beau, Bailey and Braeden Padesky, brothers Tom (Nancy) Padesky and Donald Padesky, sister Jeanne Kneifl, sisters-in-law Marjorie McMullin, Erma Gates, Ella Meier, and Elsie Yeske, many nieces and nephews, and his former daughters- in-law Bethany Tinapp-Padesky and Patti Martell.Special thanks to neighbors Dave and Roger for looking out for Dad and helping him with the yard and sidewalks as he grew older and also to the staff at the La Crosse Mayo Clinic for their compassion and help on Dad's day of passing.In addition to his mother and father, Dad was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law Howard Yeske, Calvin Yeske, Jerry McMullin, Gerald Kneifl, S.E. Meier, Paul Sandman, Ernie Gates, and Orlin Hanson, and sisters-in-law Jeanette Padesky, Irene Hanson, and Cheryl Yeske.Jack will be deeply missed by family and friends. He enjoyed nothing better than being surrounded by the people he loved enjoying a glass of beer. We love you Dad and Grandpa. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse. Rev. Rick Roberts will officiate. Burial with Military rites by the American Legion Post 52 will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Bangor, Wis. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and again at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services.
