Dominik J. Halling, 17, of La Crosse, died on Thursday, December 29th, 2011 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. He was born in La Crosse on September 3, 1994. Dominik attended La Crescent Montessori Academy, La Crescent High School, La Crosse Central High School, Wisconsin Challenge Academy, and WTC. Most recently he worked at Southwind Orchard, T-Bones Pork and Beans, and the La Crosse American Legion Post 52. He also volunteered at Riverfront Activity Center. Dominik loved the outdoors, whether it was cutting wood, fishing with friends, or skateboarding. Dominik was very social. He loved kids and never had a problem making friends, as he had many.
He is survived by his mother, Brenen Halling, his father John Halling, his step-father Dominic Boarman, a sister, Breanna Halling, a brother and sister, Josh and Kelsey Smaby, Ross De Lap, his grandparents, Susan (Dan) Greeno, John (Sue) Halling Sr., Edward (Laurie) Erickson, Gerri (Roger) Fritz, Paul (Katherine) Boarman, and Lenore Italiano, uncles, David (Kim) Erickson and Bill (Kathy) Halling, aunts, Peggy (Barry) Coleman, Molly (Randy) Hauser, Kalean Erickson, and Jaime (Karl) Greenfield, and many, many cousins, his godmothers, Shannon Given and Margaret Given, and godfathers, Mike Given and Dan Greeno. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Pat Betz, maternal great-grandparents, William and Elaine Given, and James and Katherine Erickson, a great uncle, William Given Jr., a cousin Joseph Stewart, and a second cousin Jessie Erickson.
Funeral services will be held at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Wednesday, January 4th, 2012 at 6:00 PM. Rev. Dr. Mark Jolivette will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3:00 6:00 PM. Dominiks family would like to give a special thank-you to the clergy at Gundersen Lutheran for their compassion and thoughtfulness that was greatly needed.
