It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Virginia Lee Ginny Saltzman, 65 of La Crosse who died on Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
Ginny was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend, and her kindness compassion and great sense of humor will be greatly missed. She dedicated her life to caring for and teaching children, her true passion and vocation for over 40 years. Through her work, she touched the lives of many children and parents and made the world a better place for many of her little ones.
Ginny also loved to write poetry, and many of us were blessed to receive a piece of her written work as a tribute to a loved one or the children in our lives.
She was born August 1, 1946, in La Crosse to Leroy and Gladys (Kingery) Wells and graduated from Logan High School.
Ginny is survived by her four children; Joseph (Heidi) Zeimentz of Middleton, WI; Daniel (Wendy) Zeimentz of La Crosse; Patricia Zeimentz of Glendale, WI; and Mary Zeimentz of La Crosse; eight grandchildren; Emily, Julia and Michael Zeimentz all of Middleton, WI; Britney, Samantha and Holly Zeimentz all of La Crosse; Benjamin Zeimentz of Glendale; and Devin Zeimentz of La Crosse; two sisters, Carol (Merlin) Huber of Onalaska and Geraldine Murphy of La Crosse; a brother, Larry Wells of Lake Placid, FL and many nieces and nephews and former husbands, James Zeimentz and Daniel Saltzman. She was preceded in death by her parents and two nephews; Adam Baldwin and Paul Huber.
A funeral service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Friday, January 6th at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Avenue S., La Crosse. A visitation for friends and family will take place at the funeral home on Friday from 3-6 P.M. A private family burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery at a later time. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred and will be given to a childrens organization in Ginnys name. Ginnys children would like to sincerely thank the entire staff at Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center for their loving care of our mom.
