Albert F. Seed Penchi, 80, of Genoa, died on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at the Hillview Health Care Center.

He was born in the Township of Genoa, rural Vernon County, on August 15, 1931, to Joseph and Cecilia (Ronkoski) Penchi. He married the former Alvina Kelsey on July 28, 1956 in Genoa. She preceded him in death on January 28, 1986.

Albert served in the U.S. Army and was a member of American Legion Post 246 of Genoa. He served as a patrolman for the Township of Genoa for 37 years and also served as the Town Chairman. He was also a life-long member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa.

Albert was a quiet, simple man who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, and deer and coon hunting.

He is survived by his children, Debra (Thomas) Wallerich of West Salem, Linda Penchi of La Farge, Diane (Brent) Dwyer of La Crosse, David (Kay) Penchi of De Soto, and Donna (Kevin) Bluske of Chaseburg; nine grandchildren, Dana (David) Elliott, and Michael and Carissa Wallerich, Emily Dwyer, Emma and Ella Penchi, and Britany, Samantha, and Alex Bluske; and one great grandson, Joseph Elliott. He is also survived by one brother, Paul (Eloda) Penchi of Viroqua; a brother-in-law, Lawrence (Louise) Kelsey of Genoa; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Alvina, he was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Cecilia; one sister, Cecelia, and her husband, Paul Pedretti; five brothers, Joseph, Francis, Philip, James, and Lawrence Penchi; and his father and mother-in-law, Alvin and Georgiana Kelsey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 11th, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa. Very Rev. Robert J. Cook will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m., and again on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is assisting the family. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, the Gundersen Lutheran Hospice Program, and at Hillview Health Care Center for their wonderful care.
