He was born on August 29, 1929 in Ettrick, WI to Kenneth and Vernelle (Crogan) Pederson. He attended Ettrick and St James Elementary schools and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1947. Carrol was inducted into the US Army in 1951 and served until 1953. While serving his country, he played on the Fort Leonard Wood championship softball team. On April 7, 1953, Pete was joined in marriage to the love of his life, Dolores Elizabeth Merfeld, at St Johns Catholic Church in La Crosse.

Pete was a tool and die maker at Northern Engraving and Trane Company, and also worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier in Onalaska. He was an avid golfer and a long-time member of the Coulee Golf Bowl Mens Club. Pete cherished hunting and fishing with his sons and good friends. During his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and restoring golf clubs. He spent many hours supporting his children and grandchildren at sporting events and other activities. Pete also loved to sing and dance, and was heard whistling a tune by many.

Pete was an active member of St Patricks Catholic Church for many years. He served on the Holy Name Society, was a Lay Minister and trained Servers. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Post 52 in La Crosse, and a past President of the Aquinas Booster Club.

Pete is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dolores Pederson; his children Gregory (Lynette) of Galesville; Beth (Tom) Sonsalla of Trempealeau; Karen (Lee) Carhart of Galesville; Timothy of La Crosse; Jeffrey (Nancy) of La Crosse; Patrick (Beth) of Holmen; Joseph (Angela) of Onalaska; and Susan Blackwell of La Crosse; his grandchildren, Derek, Erin (Tom Schultz), Karli, Jacob, and Brady Pederson; Lucas, Benjamin (fianc Marie Schmidt), Casey, Daniel and Katelin (fianc Matthew Hart) Sonsalla; Molly and Nathan Carhart; Abbey and Andrea Pederson; Lindsey, Lauren and Sam Pederson; Taylor and Nicole Pederson; Andrew, Alyssa (fianc Stuart Britson) and Evan Pederson; Jesse, Quincy and Vanessa Blackwell and Calvin, Simeon and Synclare Mavin. He is further survived by his brother K. Don (Gina) Pederson of Onalaska; and his sister Julie Ott (Reggie Wojahn) of La Crosse.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Matthew and Clara (Strasser) Merfeld; two sisters, Monna Dent and infant Leone; brother Anthony Pederson; and infant grandchildren, Matthew, Mark and Adam Pederson.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday January 25, 2012 at St Patricks Catholic Church in Onalaska. Reverend Steven Kachel will officiate. Burial, with Military Honors will follow in the Catholic Cemetery in La Crosse. Friends and family may call at the church on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM with a Rosary to be recited at 4:00 PM and again from 9:30 AM until the time of service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
