Arlene K. Laska, 86, of La Crescent, died on Wednesday, January 25th, 2012 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse after a brief illness. She was born on September 30, 1925 to the late Frank and Mary (Schlink) Alf in Eau Claire, WI. She worked for the Autolite Company on the north side of La Crosse during its war production years. She married Ken Laska on July 15, 1961 and became a homemaker, raising four children. Arlenes strong Catholic faith was a cornerstone in her life. She was active in circles at Crucifixion church in La Crescent. Overcoming her personal challenges, she developed a kindness, sweetness, and grace which made her a joy to be around. She was an excellent cook and avid Green Bay Packer fan. She cherished her recent years spent at home living with her daughter Susan. She is survived by her four children, John Laska and Jeff (Lynette) Laska of La Crescent, Joel Laska of Ottawa, Canada, and Susan Laska of La Crescent, three grandchildren, Kristie, Kent, and Dylan, a great-grandson Colton, and two nieces, Jeanne Raasch and Mary Wright. She was preceded in death by her husband Ken and a sister Thora Wright.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Church of the Crucifixion, La Crescent. Rev. Gregory Havel will officiate. Burial will be in the Crucifixion Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent on Sunday from 4:00 6:00 PM and at the church on Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of services. A Rosary will be recited Sunday evening at 5:30 PM. Memorials are preferred to the donors choice.

Arlenes family and friends wish to thank the excellent and caring staff of the Caledonia Care Center, Claddagh House in La Crescent, Golden Living Center in La Crescent, Mayo Medical Center, and the La Crescent First Responders for their efforts and care of Arlene.
