Shirley attended St. Johns Lutheran grade school and West Bend High School in West Bend, Wis. She earned her Bachelor Of Science degree in English and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, her Master of Arts Degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and her Ph.D. in Spanish from the University of Missouri, Columbia. She was awarded a Fulbright Grant to study in Spain and a National Endowment for the Humanities to conduct research at Duke University.

She was richly blessed with family, friends and many travel and study opportunities. She enjoyed a rewarding teaching career. She taught in High School for five years before embarking on a college teaching career. She taught at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse for twenty six years.

Shirley is survived by her five siblings; her sister Dolores Marshall of Huntley, Ill., her brothers Robert (Doris) Tock of Marion, Wis., William Tock of Jackson, Wis., Eugene Tock of Ramsgate, England, and Victor Tock of West Bend, Wis., sisters in law Nancy Boon of Neilsville, Wis., and Penny Tock of Sparta, Wis., brother in law John Schroeder of West Bend and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Milton, her sister Joan Schroeder, her brother Richard and sisters in law Maureen, Deloris, Jean and Pam and great nephew Will Hibicke.

Shirley has gone to the mansion which her Lord and Savior has prepared, to join her family and to share with them eternal life.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 30, 2012 at Shepherd Of The Hills Lutheran Church in Onalaska. Pastor Donald Stein will officiate. Entombment will be in the Garden Mausoleum at Oak Grove Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call on the family Sunday evening from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of Onalaska and again on Monday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be given to the family at www.schumacher-kish.com .
