He was born in the Town of Bergen in rural Vernon County, on December 2, 1914, to Henry and Emma (Loeffler) Lenser. He married Louise Ross on March 5, 1938, in La Crosse and she preceded him in death on April 16, 2007.

Wilbert was a life-long member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crosse, where he attended grade school, and later graduated from La Crosse Central High School. He was employed by Swift & Co. in La Crosse for 43 years before retiring.

Wilbert was an accomplished athlete, excelling in hockey and softball, and also enjoyed bowling. He was an avid Badger and Packer fan and in his younger years, enjoyed hunting and fishing. Throughout his life, Wilbert enjoyed being outdoors tending to his flower gardens.

The most significant part of Wilberts life was his family. He is survived by his children, Charles (Donee)Lenser of La Crosse, John (Blanche) Lenser of Mendon, Vt., Tom (Jeanette) Lenser of Onalaska, Peter (Catherine) Lenser of Arlington, Va., Stephen (Cindy) Lenser of La Crosse, Gregory (Kathleen) Lenser of West Allis, Wis., Jennifer (Bob) Hanifl of La Crosse, Jacqueline (Tod) Hauser of La Crosse, and David (Barb) Lenser of La Crosse; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Carl (Lois) Lenser of La Crosse; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Jane Suzie Lenser in 1982; three brothers, Ed, John, and Milton Lenser; and two sisters, Grace Young and Evelyn Lenser.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17th, at 11:00 a.m., at First Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Rev. Richard Pamperin will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of the donors choice.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. David Momont and the staff at the Sterling House of Onalaska for their wonderful care of Wilbert.
