Ray Muller, 77, of Onalaska, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on September 16, 1934 in La Crosse to Otto G. and Elizabeth M. (Huss) Muller, Sr. Ray married Nancy Jean Hefti on April 27, 1963. He had worked for the State of Wisconsin, Department of Transportation, as an Engineering Technician, retiring in 1995 after 33 years. Ray was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church in Onalaska.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy, two sons, Jeffrey (partner Joel Hobson) of Minneapolis, MN, and Michael (Nicole) of Yucaipa, CA, two granddaughters, Christina Elisabeth and Marlena Anneliese, both of Yucaipa, three brothers, Robert (Betty) Muller of Ripon, WI, Otto Bud Muller Jr. of Billings, MT, and Richard (Evelyn) Muller of Lexington, KY, two sisters, Viola DeBettignies of Kenosha, WI and Muriel Muller of Lexington, KY, a brother-in-law, Gary (MaryJo) Hefti of Bangor, WI, nephews, Kristopher Hefti and his children, Matthew, Jacob and Megan of Osseo, WI, and Mark Hefti of Los Angeles, CA, his mother-in-law, Geraldine Hefti of La Crosse, very special friends, David and Donna Wolf and their family, especially Bruce, Bonnie, Courtney, C.J., and Brianna Hrabak, Mary Powers, and many other in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Frederick, Arthur, Russell, and William, a sister, Elizabeth Betty Muller, and his father-in-law, Harold (Smokey) Hefti.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Patricks Catholic Church, Onalaska. Rev. Steven Kachel will officiate. Burial will be in the Onalaska City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of Onalaska on Thursday from 5:00 7:00 PM and at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff of the Mayo Clinic Health System Home Care & Hospice for the dedication and care they gave to Ray and his family. We are especially grateful to have had Sara as Rays primary caregiver. She was not only compassionate and caring, she became a wonderful friend to us as she helped us through this journey.
