Zeta A. Zete Huerkamp, 80 of Dresbach, MN died at her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, February 15, 2012. She was born September 26, 1931 in La Crosse to John and Odelia (Post) Oldenburg and graduated from La Crosse Central High School in 1949. On October 14, 1950 she married James Huerkamp in La Crescent, MN.
Zete enjoyed cooking, reading and her trips to the casino, however her deepest love came from spending time with her beloved husband Jim, her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids extended family and her many friends. Zete loved nothing better than planning a family get together which always included her delicious baked beans. She was also proud to have been a member of the first and second Applefest Queens Court. Zete will be forever missed by her entire loving family and friends. Her passion for family events and get togethers will be always be remembered fondly.
In addition to her husband Jim, she is survived by her children; Laurie Hostettler of Dresbach, James Jimmer Huerkamp of Chicago, IL and Mary (Bob) Erdmann of Dakota, MN; a daughter-in-law, Joy (Huerkamp) Boldt of Pickwick, MN; grandchildren, Eric (Jamie Benedict) Hostettler, Brett (Michelle) Hostettler, Nick (Jodi) Erdmann, Bobby (Heather) Erdmann and Amy (Delane Frauenkron) Huerkamp; great-grandchildren, Brynn, Collin, Jaydan, Ashley, Dastin, Caidence, Claire and Baby Keeran due in April, along with many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Sadly, Zete was the last surviving member of the John Oldenburg family having been preceded in death by her parents, a son Tim Dozer four brothers and eight sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, February 18th at Crucifixion Catholic Church in La Crescent with Rev. Gregory Havel and Deacon Gerry Trocinski officiating. Burial will follow in the Crucifixion Catholic Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent on Friday from 5-7 P.M. where a prayer service will be held at 6:30 P.M. and again on Saturday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Memorials are preferred to the Leukemia Foundation in memory of Tim Huerkamp or the Mayo System Hospice Program.
