Diane Zurfluh, 74, of La Crosse passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 15, 2012.She was born May 12, 1937 to Byron and Elaine Campion. Diane, the oldest of 5 children, grew up on their family farm in rural Montello, WI. She graduated from Montello High School as valedictorian in 1955. Diane studied to teach English at UW La Crosse, where she met the love of her life, Clayton K. Zurfluh, whom she later married, on December 7th, 1957.

Diane was an incomparable wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Her greatest joy was her family. She was an educator, PTA activitist, Cub Scout den mother, and Webelo leader. Her many interests included reading, crossword puzzles, crafting, antiques, weekend camping trips, family vacations, and cheering for her children, grandchildren, the Badgers and the Packers.Her wisdom, strength, patience and compassion will be greatly missed by her family, which consists of her husband, Clayton K. Zurfluh; children, Scott Zurfluh, Lynn Brackeen, Mark (Peg) Zurfluh, Stacy (John) Raatz; grandchildren, Jaime Brackeen, Tristan Zurfluh, Trygve Zurfluh, Caitlyn Raatz, and Trevor Raatz; sisters, Judy (Bernie) Cleary, Karen (Archie) Arestides; brother, Kirt (jean) Campion; and sister-in-law Mary Campion.She was preceded in death by her parents, Byron and Elaine Campion; Father and Mother-in-law, Arthur and Sophie Zurfluh; and brother, Kelly Campion.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Rev. David Olson will officiate. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Sunday from 5:00 7:00 PM, and at the church on Monday from 10:30 AM until the time of services. A Prayer Service will be held Sunday evening at 6:45 PM. Condolences can be sent to Schumacher Kish, La Crosse, WI 54601.
