Viola J Hicke

Viola J. Hicke, 80 of La Crosse, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at her daughters home after a long illness surrounded by her family. She was born in La Crosse on October 23, 1931 to Charles and Stella (Uglum) Olson. She married Fred B. Fritz Hicke in La Crosse and he preceded her in death in 2008.

Viola is survived by her children; Don (Lori) Hicke of La Crosse, Sharon Schultz of La Crosse, Toni (Doug) West of La Crosse, Teri (Steven) Powell of Onalaska, Darcy (Jeff) Eckland of Bangor, WI., Willa (Randy) Juel of Rice Lake, WI., Brenda (Tom) Wurzel of La Crescent, MN., Stephie (Steve) Gilles of Brown Deer, WI., her grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, Cory (Andreia), Sara (Brian), Dane, Chad, Maria (Shawn), Michelle, Jen (TJ), Jessie (Bill), DJ (Gretchen), Scott, Brian, Eric (Jessi), Kate, Nina (Tom), Craig, Kevin, Carli, Greg, Geoff and Gerry, her great grandchildren Sage, Hans, Tessa, Madison, Cole, Sydney, Jackson, Holden, Logan, Tanner, Cameron, Harrison, Shawna, Cassidy, Steven, Gracy, Lukas, Lexi, Marissa, Gunnar, Haylee, Alexandrea, Harlie, Braeden, her sisters Rhea Prieur of Onalaska, Darleen (Stan) Bunke of Rockford, IL., Lois (Ron) Martinmaki of La Crosse, one brother Howard (Joyce) Olson of San Marcos, CA., special niece Lynda Coelho and special nephew Ron (Pat) Hicke. In addition to her parents and husband Fritz, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter Christine Powell and one son in law Jerry Schultz.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her special sisters, the hospice nursing staff and Caring Bridge for assisting our family through this difficult journey.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 6, 2012 at English Lutheran Church of La Crosse. Pastor Duane Baardseth will officiate. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Friends may call on the family Friday morning at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be used in Violas memory. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is assisting the family.
