Marlin R. Deyo, 81, of La Crosse, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2012. He was born on September 28, 1930 in La Crosse to Ronald and Louise (Fuhrmann) Deyo. Marlin graduated from Aquinas High school in 1948. He served with the U.S. Marines from 1951 1953 in the Korean War. On May 14, 1960 he married Joan F. Svec in La Crosse. He had worked as a welder for the Trane Co. for 37 years before retiring in 1991. He enjoyed fishing and expressing his opinions on current national and local events on a local radio show. He was also an avid Packer fan. He was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church Parish and American Legion Post #52 of La Crosse.
He is survived by his wife Joan of La Crosse, one son Richard (Annette) of Winona, MN, four daughters Jane (Roger) Russell of Scottsdale, AZ, Susan (Mark) Molstad of Onalaska, WI, Catherine (Dean) Taylor of Black River Falls, WI and Barbara (Alvin) May of Marshfield, WI, thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren, a sister Carol Denison of La Crosse, an uncle Richard (Beverly) Fuhrman along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Jo Ann and Darlene and one grandchild. Marlin loved his family and will be missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the St. Clare Health Mission of La Crosse or the donors choice. The Schumacher Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is assisting the family.
