Shirley D Weis

Shirley D. Weis, 76, of La Crosse, died on Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Hillview Healthcare Center. She was born on November 26, 1935 in La Crosse to Harry and Johanna (Kleinowski) Kubiak. Shirley grew up in south La Crosse where her family resided in the groundskeeper home on the La Crosse Country Club. Shirley enjoyed climbing on the bluffs behind her home where she encountered many rattlesnakes. Shirley graduated from Aquinas High School. She married Gerald J. Weis Sr. on April 4, 1959 in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He preceded her in death in January of 2012. Shirley had worked as an LPN at Gundersen Lutheran, Mulder Care Center, Hillview Care Center, and Degen Burgland. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, knitting, crocheting, playing cards and playing the organ and piano.

She is survived by three children, a son Gerald J. (Lynn) Weis Jr. and their children, Abigail and Connor Weis of Holmen, a son Jeffrey T. Weis and his children Lee and Jessica Weis of La Crosse, and a daughter, Ann E. (Dave) Dummer and their children Zachariah and Isaiah Dummer of La Crosse, three sisters, Katie Cook of Winona, Pat McDowell of La Crosse and Sandy (Lyle) Quillin of La Crosse, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Ken Skip Kubiak, and three sisters, Jeanette Pearse, Marian Pierce, and La Verne Maglio.
