Elizabeth K Melde

Elizabeth K. Melde, 25 of La Crosse, WI., and formerly of La Crescent, MN., passed on to the Lords hands on Saturday, April 7th at the Mayo Clinic Health System of La Crosse with her family at her side. She never gave up the fight, a true warrior and champion until the end of her earthly life. She now stands free of pain, breathing freely with a glow surrounding her among the angels and no doubt touching them as she has touched all of us.

Elizabeth was born in La Crosse on August 12, 1986 to Steven and Monica (Gorman) Holman. She was a 2004 graduate of La Crescent High School and was working at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant while she pursued her nursing career and education at Southeast Technical College in Winona, MN. Along with many other things,Elizabeth enjoyed art and was a talented painter. She also loved to cook. On August 21, 2010 she married Matt Melde at English Lutheran Church in La Crosse.

In addition to her husband Matt of La Crosse, she is survived by her parents Steve and Monica of La Crescent, her brother Kevin Holman of St. Michael, MN., many aunts, uncles, cousins , her paternal grandparents and her pet Lab Guinness. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at English Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Pastors Melinda Pupillo and Mark Solyst will officiate. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn North Cemetery. Friends may call on the family Wednesday evening at the church from 4 until 8 P.M. and again at the church on Thursday from 10 am until the time of services. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be used to establish the Living for Liz Nonprofit organization.
