Ruth A. Eide, 98, of La Crosse, died on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. She was born on February 14, 1914 in La Crosse to Gustav and Mabel (St. Jacque) Bautsch. Ruth graduated from Central High School in 1932. She married Elmer Eide on October 22, 1936. Ruth had worked at the CCC Camp in Coon Valley during WWII, and later worked as a secretary at the AFL-CIO offices for many years. Ruths home was always open for coffee from 1:30 to 2:00 PM. She was a very talented artist, and a very elegant lady.
Ruth is survived by three children, Kay Reiman of La Crosse, Robert (Charlene) Eide of Franklin, WI, and James (Connie) Eide of La Crosse, her grandchildren, Barbara (Richard) Langen, Ann (Jim) Kuschel, Ellen (Mark) Van Pay, John (Lisa) Reiman, Rebecca (Paul) De Garmo, Greg (Jill) Eide, Lisa (Mike) Brazeau, Stephanie Eide, and Elizabeth (Jim) Koschmann, 20 great-grandchildren, and a brother, William D. (Evelyn) Bautsch of La Crosse. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer in 1993, three brothers, Robert, Gustav and George Bautsch, and a sister, Florence Pohrman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 14th, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
