La Vonne Thompson

La Vonne M. Thompson, 75, of La Crosse, died on Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Mayo Clinic Health System-La Crosse. She was born on January 8, 1937 in La Crosse to Donald and Martha (Lund) Tucker. La Vonne graduated from Central High School. She married William L. Thompson Sr. on October 22, 1955 at Bible Baptist Church. La Vonne had worked at La Crosse Footwear for several years. She also taught ceramics classes and enjoyed gardening, camping, wintering in Texas with her husband, and was a wonderful cook.

She is survived by four children, Cheryl (Steve) McCurdy of Onalaska, Lynn Thompson of La Crosse, Diane (Dave) Lokken of Onalaska, and William L. (Terri) Thompson, Jr. of Onalaska, eight grandchildren, Amy and Ashley McCurdy, Kristina Thompson, Emily Guevara, Michael (Bridget) Dresen, Kyle Dresen, and Vanessa and Evan Thompson, three great-grandchildren, Lexi, Gavin and Haley, two sisters, Beverly Hockenberry of Onalaska and Helen Schroeder of Onalaska, and a brother, Vernon Tucker of La Crosse. She was preceded in death by her husband William on December 15, 2011.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 18th, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse. Rev. D. LeRoy Sua will officiate. Entombment will be in the Oak Grove Garden Mausoleum. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services
