Robert M. Bob Ready, 86, of La Crescent, died on Tuesday, May 1thstth, 2012 at the Golden Living Center. He was born on August 1, 1925 in La Crescent to Joseph andMary (Buehler) Ready, Sr. Bob proudly served with the US Marine Corps during WWII, and worked on the Enola Gaye Bomber. He married Carole Harlos on July 3, 1951 in the Church of the Crucifixion. Bob worked as an ironworker with the Local Union 383. He helped build the Cathedral in La Crosse and also worked on G. Heileman Brewery, the Genoa Powerplant, and many other projects in the area. Bob was a Past Commander and 60 year member of the Gittens-Leidel American Legion Post 595 in La Crescent.
He is survived by his wife Carole, five brothers and sisters, Joe (Arlene) Ready, George Shorty (Donna) Ready, Le Roy Ready, Mary Ann (Marty) Leudtke, and Ron (Jean) Ready, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his four children, Linda, Jim, Jane and Michelle, his parents, a brother Lawrence, and a sister Pearl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 5th, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Church of the Crucifixion, La Crescent. Rev. Gregory Havel will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the Crucifixion Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of services
