Gladys Marie Breyer

Gladys Marie Breyer, 83 of Ridgeway, MN passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. She was born June 3, 1928 in Richland Center, WI to Francis and Anna (Pellett) Emery and graduated from Readstown, WI High School. On September 3, 1948 she married Roderick Breyer in La Crosse.

Gladys lived and worked on the family farm and served for many years as secretary and school board member at Bush school in Ridgeway. She also picked apples in the fall for Fruit Acres Orchard in La Crescent and worked for Express A Button in Dakota. Gladys was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing bingo as well as spending winters in Texas; however her biggest joy came from her time spent with her kids and grandkids.

In addition to her husband Rod, she is survived by two daughters; Karen (Don) Groth of Cumberland, WI and Marilyn (Dave) Gellersen of Ridgeway, MN; a son, Randy (Val) Breyer of Ridgeway, MN; 10 grandchildren; Scott (Judy) Groth, Tami (Shawn) Brooks, Ellen (Lance) Trotman, Heidi (Ben) Olson, April Breyer, Adam Breyer, Amy Breyer, Rachael (Michael) Pierce, Sarah (Lamond) Hessler and Karl (Heather) Gellersen; 17 great-grandchildren; Charlotte and Rebecca Groth, Megan Powell, Nessa Brooks, Ahnika and Cully Trotman, Jacob and Marcus Olson, Daniel Hessler, Hannah, Marshall, Seth, RubyAnne, and Hudson Pierce, Gracie, Madeline and Jake Gellersen. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; Raymond, Vernon and Francis Emery; two sisters, Juanitta Murray and Ruth Adams; along with a great-granddaughter, Emily Powell.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 7th at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Ridgeway with Rev. Anthony Straceski officiating. Burial will follow in Bush Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 5-7 PM Sunday at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent and at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
