Bertha was born December 22, 1920 in a small town near Panama City, Florida to Jefferson and Jessie (Atkins) Money. Bertha married Frank Rhyne in 1946. Throughout their lives they owned and operated several businesses including a restaurant and hotels in Panama City, and a realty firm in Ft. Lauderdale. They later moved to Bakersfield, California where Bertha was an active member of Stine Road Baptist Church and sang in the church choir. She loved ballroom dancing with Frank. Bertha moved to La Crosse in 2006. She was lovingly cared for by the staff at the Sterling House and by Dr. Sarah Naik. She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her family. Bertha was bright and fun-loving; she never lost her southern charm. She was affectionately known as Granny.
