Leona A. Waller, 89 of La Crosse passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012 at the Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center. She was born August 24, 1922 in Madison, WI to Dewey and Edna (Moore) Noyes. On January 17, 1942 she married William A. Waller in La Crosse and he preceded her in death on November 20, 1996.

Leona was very gifted with arts and crafts and worked for many years at Ben Franklin in the crafts department. She also sold Avon Products and was an active member of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints in La Crosse where she served as a Women Leader and Sunday school teacher. Leona and Bill had operated the canteen at the churchs campground in Grand Marsh, WI for over 20 years. They also farmed in Smith Valley for several years and were members of the Re Lax N Campers. Leona loved playing bingo and her trips to Treasure Island Bingo and Casino.

Leona is survived by her children; Donna (Pat) Bryan, Ellen (Andy) Tylka, Bill (Brenda) Waller, Edna (Virgil) Haldorson and Cheryl (Scott) Anderson; her niece, Linda (Ray) Slater who is like a daughter to her; grandchildren; Mark Smith, Brenda (Dan) Marsolek, Brad Smith, Rebecca Smith, David (Desiree) Smith, Nancy (David) Clements, Tressa (Curt) Hughes, Todd (Vicky) Trailer, Tauny Melby, Angie Bryant, Mark Bryant, Josh Haldorson, Katey (Eric) Nietz, Sarah (Aaron) Pronschinske, Jordan Haldorson, Kassondra Haldorson, Joe Haldorson, McKayla Haldorson, Jackie (Seth) Scholl, Jeremiah Anderson, Justin Anderson and Jenah Anderson; great-grandchildren; Kendra, Katrina, Colten, Shane, Kylie, Tiffany, Scott, Cassidy, Jacob, Denali, Dawson, Mckinlie, Brandon, Ian, Nina, Zoe, Eli, Austen, Breanna, Raven, Isaiah, Alayna, Kiarra, Lauren, Kilynn, Aubrey, Thomas and William; a great-great-grandson, Micah Nichols and special neighbors; Cindy and Ken Martin. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, William T. Waller II, her parents; two brothers, Lester Noyes and Larry Noyes and two sons-in-law, Larry Smith and Patrick Bryan.

A Celebration of Leonas life will take place from 1:00-4:00 P.M. Sunday, May 6th at the American Legion Post 336, 731 Sand Lake Road, Onalaska. Per Leonas request, dress is casual and everyone is to have a good time. A private family entombment will take place at a later date. Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is assisting the family.
