David R. Nelson - David Raymond Nelson, 74,of Onalaska, died on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at the Mayo Clinic Health System inLa Crosse, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.     He was born in La Crosse on March 21,1938, to Chester R. and Edna (Haack) Nelson. He was a 1956 graduate of Logan High School and later graduated fromU.W. Madison in 1960 with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering.  On June 26, 1965, David married Sally Klinskiin Caledonia, MN.     David was employed at Trane Company andAltec International until he retired in 1997.     He is survived by his wife, Sally; adaughter, Kathy Nelson of Naperville, IL; a son, Kevin (Doris) Nelson of SanAntonio, Texas; three grandchildren, Danielle Zaininger, and Andrew and EvelynNelson; and a sister, Barbara Swanson of La Crosse.  He was preceded in death by his parents and abrother-in-law, Melvin Swanson.     A memorial service will be held on Friday,May 11th, at 11:00 a.m., at First Ev. Lutheran Church in LaCrosse.  Rev. Roger Sachs willofficiate.  A reception will follow inthe church basement.  Inurnment will takeplace in the Oak Grove Garden Mausoleum. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is assisting thefamily.  Online condolences may besubmitted at www.schumacher-kish.com.     The family would like to thank the doctorsand nurses at Mayo Clinic Health System for their kind and compassionate care,especially the nurses of the third floor.
