Virginia C Meinertz

d. May 31, 2012

She was born in La Crosse on December 3, 1918, to Edward and Nancy (Rhyme) Holberg. She married Edward J. Meinertz on August 7, 1937, in La Crosse. He preceded her in death on November 17, 2005.

Ginny was a devoted and loving wife, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a true friend who touched the hearts of many people. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure and honor of knowing her with her contagious smile. She measured wealth not in material belongings, but in the love and time spent with family and friends.

Ginny loved to play cards and dice. She was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, never missing a game. She worked at Johnnies Restaurant on South Avenue, New Villa, and also volunteered for lunches at the Moose Club for 15 years.

Ginny is survived by three daughters and three sons, Rita Clements of Moline, Ill., Nancy (Dennis) Servais of La Crosse, Patricia Hanzlik of Marion, Iowa, Robert (Ruth) Meinertz of La Crosse, Bernard (Vicki) Meinertz of Onalaska, and John Meinertz of Stoddard; thirteen grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons-in-law; one sister; and three brothers.

Douglas Robertson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Sunday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., and at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials can be directed to Bethany on Cass, Hillview Health Care Center, or Mary, Mother of the Church Parish.
