Roger was active in the Knights of Columbus in all the cities he lived, most recently as a 4th degree member of Council 839, Bishop Schwebach Assembly, and its honor guard. He served as a Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America. He was selected a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.

Roger and Mary enjoyed travelling to many cities throughout the United States and across the globe, for professional and personal enrichment. His most recent trip was to Rome this past February, and included a personal audience with the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI. His Holiness bestowed a special blessing upon Roger and Mary.

In addition to his wife, Mary B Hovel, Roger is survived by his siblings, Alice Werner of West Bend, Robert (Helen) Reichert of Milwaukee, Katie Mulvihill of Richfield, Dennis (Mary) Reichert of West Bend; Marys eight siblings and their spouses; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that he loved and that loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers-in-law, Lloyd Werner and Michael Mulvihill.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated by Most Reverend Jerome E Listecki, Archbishop of Milwaukee, and Most Reverend William P Callahan, Bishop of La Crosse, on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at 10:15 am, at St Joseph the Workman Cathedral in La Crosse. Visitation will be at the Cathedral on Tuesday evening, June 19, from 4 pm to 7 pm, with a rosary prayed at 6:30 pm. Visitation will also be held prior to the mass on Wednesday morning from 9 am until 10 am. Interment will be at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Cemetery in Sun Prairie, WI on Wednesday afternoon.

Memorials in Rogers name may be made to St Joseph the Workman Cathedral or to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, both in La Crosse.
