Ann M. (Annie) Lyga, 67 of La Crosse passed away peacefully on Monday, June 18, 2012 at her home with her loving family at her side. She was born on February 23, 1945 in Arcadia, WI to Andrew and Alice (Schaefer) Pelowski. She graduated from Arcadia High School in 1963 and WWTC in La Crosse in 1996. Annie worked at the Onalaska Kmart until it closed in 1995 and retired from Franciscan Skemp Medical Center in 2009.
Annie married Raymond Lyga on February 8, 1964 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Arcadia. Together they enjoyed 45 years of marriage by spending their time with their children, grandchildren and friends. They also enjoyed taking bus trips, cruises, and drives together up until Rays passing on October 25, 2009.
Annie is survived by her children; Patrick (Amy) Lyga of Holmen, WI; Wanda (Tom) Breitsprecker of Potosi, WI and Steven (Rachel) Lyga of La Crosse; blessed with six grandchildren; Luke and Lance Lyga, Brianna Lyga, Zachary Back, Leah and Morgin Myers; a sister, Audrey (Jim) Weisenberger of Ladysmith, WI; brothers, Aaron Pelowski of Holmen, Allyn (Marilyn) Pelowski of Rochester, MN and Andy Pelowski of Arcadia; along with many nieces, nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Raymond; parents Andrew and Alice Pelowski; and mother and father-in-law, Roy and Irene Lyga.
Annie made many friends through the years and she and her family are extremely grateful for their support, help, and prayers during her courageous battle with cancer. A special thanks to Norm and Mary, Anna Mae and Bob, Cheryl and Jerry, Barb and Marlene for taking her to her treatments and helping in her everyday needs. The family would like to thank Dr. Rasool, the Cancer Center Staff, Hospice and Homecare Staff of Mayo Clinic Health System Franciscan Healthcare for the kindness and compassion that they showed Annie and her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 22thndth at St. James the Less Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Schaller officiating. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 4-7 PM Thursday at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Avenue S., La Crosse where a prayer service will be held at 4:00 PM; and again at the church on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred.
