"""Christine Marie Waldack, 98, of La Crosse, died peacefully and prayerfully surrounded by her three daughters on Sunday, July 08, 2012 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. She was born on February 5, 1914 in Portland, OR to Emil and Valentine (VanWelden) DeBender. She married Alphonse Waldack on September 3, 1932 in Chicago. Her lifes treasure was their 68 year marriage woven with love through five generations of their family. Upon her husbands death in 2001 she moved from Arlington Heights, IL to La Crosse where she became a prayer partner with the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration at St. Rose Convent. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed bowling, golfing, entertaining her family and was an avid gardener. She was always kind and gently thoughtful of others, non-judgmental, and lived her life according to her strong Catholic faith.

She is survived by three daughters, Lorraine (Edward) Terry of La Crosse, Jeanne Novak of Williams Bay, WI, and Christine (Ronald) Meliza of The Woodlands, TX, eleven grandchildren, Kathleen (Kenneth) Kaeppeler, Maureen (Tim) Sadlon, Darleen Sita, Coleen Taminger, Noreen (Andy) Adolphson, Debra Novak, Mike (Cheryl) Novak, Diane Parker, David Meliza, Julia (John) Brinich, and Susan Meliza, sixteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Marian Wheaton of Palos Park, IL. In addition to her husband Alphonse, she was preceded in death by a great-great grandson, Kyle Carney; granddaughter, Eileen Reedy; a sister Margaret Meerschaert, and a brother John DeBender.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 12th, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Rev. Doulas Robertson will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be on Monday, July 16th at 10:30 AM in the All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL. Memorials may be made to the Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, 912 Market St., La Crosse, WI 54601. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is in charge of arrangements.
