Helen E. Smith, 87, of Onalaska/Eau Claire, WI passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. Helen was born in Poland, WI on February 26, 1925, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Pivonka) Roznowski. She graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1943. Helens adventurous spirit took her to Washington D.C. to work for the FBI and then to the FBI in Milwaukee where she met her future husband. Helen married Dr. William J. Smith of Eau Claire on April 19, 1952 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay. She loved going back to Green Bay to visit with her family and friends.
Helen lived in Eau Claire for 54 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish. She had many wonderful friends in Eau Claire. Helen moved to Onalaska in 2006. She was a member of St. Patricks Parish. She lived in OnaTerrace Apts., developing many wonderful friendships there as well. Helen was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and also enjoyed attending her grandchildrens sporting events.
Helen is survived by her loving family: three daughters Carolyn Smith of Minneapolis, MN, Shelley (Randy) Puls of Onalaska, WI and Kathryn Bailiff of West Bend, WI, two sons Gregory (Jeanette) Smith of Onalaska, WI and Paul (Annie) Schmidt of Bloomington, MN. She is also survived by fourteen beautiful grandchildren: Ryan, Andrew, Melanie and Paul Bailiff, Daniel, Adam and Michael Puls, Erik, Laura and Sean Smith and Drew, Quinn, Cameron and Lleyton Schmidt along with her loving sister, Addie Simcik of Green Bay, WI and her loving brothers Leonard Roznowski of Green Bay, WI and Andrew (Marilyn) Roznowski of Macungie, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and nine brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 20, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Parish in Eau Claire, WI. Rev. Eugene Klink will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the church. The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers be directed to Sacred Heart Hospital Volunteer Services, 900 W. Claremont Ave., Eau Claire, WI.
Helen was an amazing woman, a beautiful mother and sister, cherished grandma and dear friend. We will miss her dearly.
