Norma H. Swett - Norma H. Swett, 82, formerly of Dakota, Minn., died on Sunday, August 12, 2012, at the Lakeview Health Center in West Salem.
She was born in Dakota, Minn., on September 14, 1929, to Harry and Freida (Gile) Luedke. She married Roy E. Swett on January 18, 1947, in Winona. He preceded Norma in death on January 17, 2008.
Norma was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. She was especially known for her chocolate cake with fudge frosting. She was also an avid cat lover and always had a cat, usually a Siamese, around the house throughout her life.
Norma is survived by two daughters, Ellen (Jody) Volkening of La Crosse, and Harriet (Walter)Dennhardt of New Richmond, Wis.; six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Monica) Dickson of Dakota, Jennifer Schendling of Stillwater, Minn., Denise (Matt) Schreiner of Lafayette, Cal., Maia (Michael) Karpenske of New Richmond, Wis., Bruce (Cris) Dickson of California, and Heidi Frei of Moose Lake, Minn.; and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Berdonna Sis (Earl) Nottleman of LaMoille, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews and their families, including a special niece, Bonnie Janikowski. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Dickson; and two sisters, Jean Trocinski and LaVonne Beach.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 17th, at 11:00 a.m., at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 111 So. Oak St., La Crescent. Rev. Duane Baardseth will officiate. Burial will follow in Hiler Cemetery in rural Dakota, Minn. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
