Joseph C Hauser

d. August 12, 2012

Joseph C. Hauser, 83 of Onalaska, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 12, 2012 surrounded by his family and loved ones after a long illness. Joe was born on the family farm near Cashton, WI on April 14, 1929, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Marx) Hauser. He was most proud of his family and loved ones.

Joe was raised in Cashton, WI on the family farm before joining the US Army. He served his country with distinction for eight years which included time during the Korean War. He was stationed overseas for most of his Army years in Japan and Alaska. He was honorably discharged from the Army on December 18, 1953. Joe had many fond memories of his military time and talked often of his time and the friends he met, while in the Army. Subsequent to his time in the Army he attended DeVry Institute and became a television repair man. He worked for several years at Wettsteins TV in La Crosse before starting his own business, Joe Hausers TV on the north side of La Crosse. He operated his business with pride for 27 years before passing it to his son, Joe.

Joe loved to talk and spend time with friends and family. Joe was a true handyman hobbyist and could work on electronics, automotive repair, house electrical, plumbing, carpentry, weld, tile installation, and wood working. He could do it all. His sons always commented that he was one of the most interesting guys to talk to and he could always be counted on to help his family at any time. Joe is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janice, and his four sons, Jeff (Nomy) of Norfolk, VA, Joe (Dianne) of La Crosse, WI, John (Anna) of Hastings, MN, and Jason of Onalaska; his grandchildren, Josh (Devynne) Hauser of Huber Heights, OH, Jacob Hauser of Dayton, OH, Elizabeth Hauser of Hastings, MN, Luke Hauser of Hastings, MN, Matt Isbell (fianc, Anna Feit) of Apple Valley, MN and Mike (Susan) Isbell of Buffalo, MN; and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Madyson Isbell of Buffalo, Minn. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gloria and Sam Bauch of La Crosse, his sister Loraine Flock of Sparta, WI, his twin brothers, Robert (Ione) Hauser of Cashton, WI, and Paul (Lavina) Hauser of La Crosse, and his daughter-in-law Marilyn Fuchs of Huber Heights, OH. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by both of his parents, six sisters, and one brother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, August 16th, at 11:00 A.M., at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in West Salem. Rev. Robert Hegenbarth will officiate. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Ave. So., La Crosse, on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m., and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. As per Joes wishes he will be cremated subsequent to the funeral.
