Ellen Jane Nockels

Ellen Jane Nockels, 90, of La Crosse, died on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 in her home. She was born on October 22, 1921 in La Crosse, WI to Norman and Lydia (Baier) Larson. She married Earl J. Nockels on May 29, 1947 in La Crosse. Ellen was an avid bowler, being a member of the 600 club. She enjoyed walking and looking out her window to the world at the wildlife. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles while watching game shows on TV.

She is survived by her children Jack (Loretta) Nockels, Judith Barker and David (Sandi) Nockels, eight grandchildren Rich Nockels, Patti (Troy) Venner, Mike Nockels, Dan Abraham, Sarah (Corrie) Korn, Rob (Kristy) Abraham, Kathy Abraham and Eric (Amanda) Nockels, along with thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl and a son-in-law Ken Barker.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 20, 2012 at the Schumacher Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Ave. S., La Crosse. Pastor Duane Baardseth will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum, Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 10 AM until the time of service.

The family would like to thank Betty Baier, Eileen Tempte and Kay Robinson for always being there for Ellen. A special thank you to Gundersen Lutheran Hospice, Dr. David Momont and staff, especially Renee, for the loving care given to Ellen.
