Leonard H. Geier, 94 of Shelby Terrace, La Crosse passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center. He was born in Pine Hollow, rural Cashton, WI to William and Applonia (Schreier) Geier on February 16, 1918. He married Estella Erickson at St. Peter and Pauls Catholic Church in Pine Hollow on November 23, 1937. They were married 67 years when Estella passed away in 2004. They farmed near Cashton for 12 years and then moved to Middle Ridge in 1951. Leonard worked at the Trane Company for over 26 years and was a member of the Trane 25 Year Club. He was the custodian at St. Peters Parish in Middle Ridge for 46 years and was honored to be the first Eucharistic Minister there. He was also a member of the Open Heart Association.
Leonard is survived by two sons; Robert (Sandy) Geier of Hartford, WI and Richard Geier of Carmi, IL; two daughters, Carol Mae Geier (special friend, Dave Johnson) of Hannibal, MO and Leonilda LindaThompson (special friend, Arvid Nilsestuen) of Trempealeau, WI; 17 grandchildren, three of whom preceded him in death; 32 great-grandchildren, one of whom preceded him in death. He is also survived by his sisters; Marie Gabel of La Crosse, Darleen Paulsen and Lavina Flock both of Cashton, Elrita (Clarence) Meyers of St. Josephs Ridge, and one brother, Clarence (Janice) Geier of La Crosse. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Estella; a daughter, Norma; three brothers, Robert, Lawrence and Vernon Geier; four sisters, Emma Leudke, Rosella Oswald, Eleanor Crook and Margaret Prestwood; seven brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, August 29th at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, La Crosse with Rev. Douglas Robertson officiating. Burial will follow St. Peter and Pauls Cemetery, rural Cashton. Friends and family may call on Tuesday from 5-7 PM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse where a rosary will be recited at 5:00 PM; and again at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of services.
