Muriel Mae Stanek

Muriel Mae Stanek 87 of La Crosse, died unexpectedly on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. She was born in La Crosse on August 12, 1925 to Edward and Marie (Fuchs) Miller. Mae married her high school sweetheart Edward Stanek on June 5, 1948 and he preceded her in death on November 15, 1990. They had both graduated from Aquinas High School in 1943. Mae had worked alongside her husband in their family business while raising four children. Her pride and joy in life was her family. She always lived life to the fullest cherishing time spent with family and friends and her love of music.

She is survived by her children, Jane (John) Clough of Onalaska, Wis., Carol (Gary) Rucker of Green Bay, Wis., John (Karla) Stanek of La Crosse; daughter in law Mary Stanek of La Crosse, grandchildren Shelby (Jason) Holubiw, Deke (Erica) Stanek, Brittney Stanek, Betsy Clough, Mark (Victoria) Clough, Nathan (Erica) Rucker, Michael Rucker, Drew Rucker, Kasey (Ben) Schmiege, Kelly (fianc Josh Fish) Stanek and two great grandchildren Lincoln Stanek and Preslie Rucker. She is further survived by her special friend Roger Binsfeld and her aunt Marcie Christopher, sister in law Ruth Johnson of Durand, Wis. and cousins. In addition to her husband Edward, she was preceded in death by one son Dan and one grandson Matt Clough.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Cathedral Of St. Joseph The Workman. Rev. Charles Stoetzel will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Catholic Cemetery La Crosse. Friends may call at the Cathedral on Tuesday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation.
