Romey Dwyer

d. September 14, 2012

He was born in La Crosse on March 24, 1929, to Lawrence and Rosina (Rutz) Dwyer. He attended Holy Trinity Grade School and later graduated from Aquinas High School. From 1951 to 1953, Romey served in the U.S. Army, serving overseas in France. He married the former Mary Ann Mann on March 27, 1971 in Brownsville, Minn.

Romey owned and operated service stations in La Crosse for Standard Oil and Phillips 66 for 27 years. After retiring, he still continued his passion for working on vehicles by helping family and friends out of his garage. Romey was always there to lend a helping hand and never said no to anyone who needed his help. He was a devoted supporter of his sons throughout their lives, always in attendance at their activities and showing as much interest in their activities or hobbies as they did themselves.

Romey is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his two sons, Tony Dwyer (Morgan Sullivan) and Steven Dwyer (Renee Bell), both of La Crosse; two sisters, Carol (Jack) Stellick of Onalaska, and Sandy (Ron) Servais of Dayton, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Marlene Dwyer of Decorah, Iowa, and Darlyne Dwyer of La Crescent; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James and Mary Mann and Robert and Deb Mann, all of Brownsville, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Gene Dwyer, Shirley Perry and her husband, Larry, and Larry Dwyer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 18th, at 1:00 p.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Rev. Rick Roberts will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers and will be donated in Romeys memory.
