David P Jiracek

David Jumpy P. Jiracek, 84, of La Crosse, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012 at the Hillview Health Care Center. David was born to Joseph and Esther (Gemoll) Jiracek on February 13, 1928. Jumpy was a member of the Merchant Marines in WWII and a warehouse manager for 32 years for Gateway Foods, retiring in 1990. David and his loving wife, Irene, of 62 years had two sons; Larry David (Debra) Jiracek and Donald Ray (Susan) Jiracek, four granddaughters; Christy (Nathaniel) Melton, Shanna (Jack) Wright, Jenna (Jason) Metzgen, Kristin Jiracek and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister; Josephine Johnston and two brothers; Jerome (Merry) Jiracek and Eugene (Joanne) Jiracek and by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 21 at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Jeff Thomson will officiate. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until time of service. Committal services with military honors will take place at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park, La Crosse on Saturday, September 22 at 11:00 a.m. A memorial luncheon will be held at the American Legion Post 336, 731 Sand Lake Road, Onalaska, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
