Robert Paul Ender, 83, of La Crosse, died on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the St. Joseph Rehabilitation Center. He was born in La Crosse on August 21, 1929 to Albert and Louise (Lukas) Ender. Robert graduated from Aquinas High School and served with the US Navy on the Destroyer, USS Higbee, during the Korean War. He had worked as a lineman for Century Telephone for 35 years, retiring in 1991. Robert was a member of the Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post 52, the Thomas Rooney VFW Post 1530, the IBEW, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1254, and Mary, Mother of the Church Parish. Over the years, Bob enjoyed fishing with close friends at the boathouse on the Black River, and hunting with family and friends at the deer shack near Black River Falls. He will always be known for his incredible talent for telling stories and leaves his family and friends with many treasured memories. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by a sister, Marijo Weichert, a sister-in-law, Nancy Ender, and nephews and nieces, Dr. Michael (Jennifer) Quinn, Patrick (Joan) Quinn, James (Monica) Quinn, Thomas Quinn, Maureen Quinn, Judy (Randy) Weibel, Ellen (Jeff) Antony, Pam Schroeder, Tom (Elvira) Weichert, Scott (Danielle) Weichert, Brian (Holly) Weichert, Michael (Heidi) Weichert, and Matthew Weichert, and many grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother Richard, a brother John D., a sister and brother-in-law, Jo Anne (Nicholas) Quinn, and a niece Karen Quinn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 25th, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Moose Lodge. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse on Monday from 5:00 8:00 PM and at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until the time of services. A Rosary will be recited Monday evening at 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to a charity of the donors choice. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Franciscan Skemp Medical Center staff and St. Josephs Rehabilitation Center staff for the excellent care he received.
